If you're considering preserving a loved one's story, I cannot recommend Hero Story highly enough. My children pull this book out often.

My dad passed away when I was a teenager, and I always wished my children could know more about him. Through this process, they now can.
From the very first interview, I felt completely at ease. Laurie has a remarkable gift for asking thoughtful questions that brought back memories and stories I never would have thought to share on my own. Even more meaningful, she interviewed family and friends and uncovered stories about my dad that I had never heard before, stories that otherwise would have stayed only in their memories. As his daughter, that alone was an incredible gift.
I was also amazed by the historical research woven throughout the book. The context of what was happening in the world during different chapters of his life made his story feel richer and more meaningful. Combined with our family photos, it became so much more than a collection of memories, it became a beautifully told life story.
Throughout the writing process, Laurie welcomed feedback and encouraged collaboration. It truly felt like a partnership, and she cared just as much as we did about creating something authentic and beautiful. The final published book exceeded every expectation.
The greatest gift, though, is what has happened since. This isn't a book that sits on a shelf collecting dust. My children pull it this Hero Story out often, read about their grandfather, look through the photographs, and ask questions about his life. They now have a connection to him that simply wasn't possible before, and that is something I will treasure forever.
This project preserved my father's legacy, gave me new memories to cherish, and created a priceless gift for future generations. I am deeply grateful for the care, professionalism, and heart that went into every step of the process.
